Did people tell their kids about sex back in Victorian times?

I know it was a very repressed and prudish time. Did people give their kids the talk or did they just have to figure out what to do on their wedding night? Were young women taken by surprise when they had their first baby? Or did they sit down with them after they got engaged and tell them everything?
