Should I switch from the Captivate to the iPhone?

I currently have a Samsung Captivate with Android 2.2. Lately, I've been feeling somewhat unsatisfied with it. My main gripes are with the overall unpolished feel of the OS (particularly the lag, bugs, and low-quality apps) and the horrible battery life. However, I am a heavy user of Gmail and Google Talk, the turn-by-turn voice navigation on Google Maps has been helpful on occasion, and I like the notification system. Are these things worth sacrificing to make the switch? Please give reasons, don't just say yes or no.
